Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris born October 20 1964) is an American lawyer and politician who is currently the 49th vice president of the United States. She is also the first vice president to be female and highest-ranking female official in U.S. History, as also the first African American and second Asian American vice president. As a member of the Democratic Party, she was the attorney general of California from 2011 to 2017 and a United States senator representing California from 2017 to 2021. Harris was born and was raised in Oakland, California. Harris began her career at the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. After that, she was enlisted to join the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003, she was the San Francisco district attorney. Harris was elected Attorney General of California in 2010. In 2014, she won re-election. Between 2017 and 2021, Harris was the junior United States senator for California. Harris beat Loretta Sánchez in the 2016 Senate elections, becoming the second African American woman, and the first South Asian American, to serve as senator in the United States Senate. She was a senator , and was a vocal advocate for reforms to healthcare as well as federal cannabis de-scheduling a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrant immigrants, the DREAM Act, a ban against assault weapons, as well as progressive tax reform. Her pointed questioning of Trump officials during Senate hearings earned the attention of the nation, including the second Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh, who was charged with sexual assault.
