Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran, born March 10, 1949 is an American businesswoman and investor. She is also a lecturer and consultant, a columnist syndicated to a speaker, author, and TV show host. The Corcoran Group was a New York City real estate brokerage that she founded. NRT purchased it for $66 million in 2001. Corcoran eventually left the company. Corcoran was one of the first Shark Tank investors. She has appeared in every season of ABC's Shark Tank. Corcoran had signed 53 contracts in February of 2020. Her largest deal was her $350,000 investment in Coverplay with a 40% stake. Corcoran was born in Edgewater, New Jersey, the youngest of 10 children from a working class Irish Catholic family. Florence, her mother was an errand-taker. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. her father was a multi-talented worker throughout Corcoran's childhood. Her family often relied on the free food delivery from a nearby supermarket. Corcoran states her father was a drunk who was rude to her mother and disrespect. Corcoran had difficulty in school, and later found out she was dyslexic. She attended a local Catholic elementary school before beginning high school in St. Cecilia High School in Englewood. Corcoran was a failure in numerous classes in her first year of high school, was transferred to Leonia High School. There she was awarded a D.
